The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics just released October 2015 employment figures for all 387 metros in the nation. Most metros, including Bakersfield, continue to add jobs; but the number losing edged up to 78. The average growth rate held at 1.3 percent, remaining the lowest since June 2013.
The number of metros adding jobs totaled 300 with the October figures. The Bakersfield MSA held steady at a 0.7% job growth rate. Metros losing jobs increased to 78; three more than in September. This is the highest number of metros experiencing job declines since April 2013. The average annual growth rate among metros equaled 1.3 percent; same as last month, remaining the lowest rate since June 2013.
